Hello, this is Kendall at ANNEX. For young students who are just
learning how to write, the most important thing isn’t actually just
writing practice, students should work to build strong muscles in their
hands. Before students learn how to write, we should work on fine motor
skill activities. Recently in class, I like to include some of those
activities, like push and pulling on the noise tubes or grabbing and
counting small objects.
There are some things you can do at home to help build fine motor
skills. For example, playing with playdough, doing origami, beading
jewelry, peeling and sticking stickers, using a spray bottle to clean,
or folding hand towels, to name a few. By doing some of these
activities, we can make our hand muscles stronger and improve our writing skills.
