Hello. It’s Kendall from ANNEX. This month in 2nd and 3rd class we are
talking about the subjects that we study at school.
From the 1st grade of elementary school, students in America study math,
language arts (English), reading (phonics), music, P.E., art, but also
science and social studies.
I was surprised to learn that Japanese
students don’t have science or social studies class until later in
elementary school. They study about social studies and science topics
but there is not a full class.
When I was younger, my favorite subject was math. What is your favorite
subject?

アメリカでは小学校1年生から算数、英語、フォニックス、音楽、
日本の小学生は、理科や社会の授業を低学年では学ばないことを知りとても驚きました。
内容には触れるけれど、正式な授業としてではないのですね。
私は子供のころは算数が大好きでした。
